Since the 2016 launch of the Fed Is Best Foundation, hundreds of health professionals have written to us about the unsatisfactory and sometimes unsafe conditions that parents and newborn babies are exposed to related to the pressure to exclusively breastfeed. Many have experienced moral injury having been witnesses to unacceptable patient outcomes. Others felt alone and powerless against the culture of bullying, shaming, and coercion found in hospitals related to infant feeding. The only way we can change the culture is by speaking out and taking a stand against it.
